Inshore- Big baits been hard to find lately. Your best bet is to check out the usual bait markers and bell buoys.
If you have a 1/4" mesh net though the small sardines and threads are everywhere. It's definitely a good
time to get out the artificials and head for the flats though, Trout are almost guaranteed on any deeper flat
holding small fry bait. There are still a few tarpon in the passes early morning and late evening as well as a
good amount of fish way up in the bay. With temperatures so high fishing hasn't been the greatest. However,
night fishing has been decently good. Check out the bright dock lights and bridge lights for some good trout and
Snook action. Redfish have been pretty steady around docks and oyster bars. If your tired of the normal get out
shark fishing! All of the public reefs are great places to start.
Offshore- Good gags and snapper are being caught under 30 miles on hard bottom or ledges but are being
finicky towards baits. Your best bet is to bring squid, deans and some pens or grunts to leave your options open.
The full and new moons are going lead to nothing but great snapper bites. Big Kingfish have also been taking
free lines so don't forget to put one out while your dropping down. Further off the Blue Water fishing has been
awesome, there has been good reports of Mahi, Wahoo, and Blackfin as well as some Sails showing up. Early
morning is the time to be out with a chum line and some live baits if your looking to get into the Footballs!
Don't forget to check out the shrimp boats if your out early enough to catch them while they are still sorting
through the catch.
